Fear Not

Due to recent events in my hometown, I have come to the realization that life is precious. At any given moment in time, God may choose to bring us home to Him in Heaven above. It’s an idea that brings tears to my eyes, for I have both witnessed and felt the effects of the death of loved ones as well as feared death myself. However, I came across a Bible verse that hit home for me.

“Do not let your hearts be troubled. Trust in God; trust also in me. In my Father’s home are many rooms; if it were not so, I would have told you. I am going there to prepare a place for you.” -John 14:1-2

To me, this verse is extremely comforting. It’s a reminder that we should not fear death, for God has already prepared a place for us there. And when the time comes, we will live eternally by His side. It’s something that pains me to write–but also something that I know I must come to grip with and accept, for one day it will be my reality.

For now, there is nothing I can do except live my life to the fullest. Everyday, instead of wasting energy being angry, upset, or hateful, I plan on focusing my energy on love, faith, and spending time with the people I care about most. That way, I will never have to look back on my life and regretfully say, “I wish I had spent more time being happy” or “I wish I would’ve done this or that”. Life is too short to waste time, and too short to regret anything, for everything that happens is all a part of God’s mysterious yet glorious plan for us.

While the idea of death frightens all of us, fortunately we have a Father in Heaven who has promised us eternity by his side. All the pain that we have felt while here on Earth will one day be vanished and replaced with eternal joy. “Fear not, for I am with you…” (Isaiah 41:10)
